The fact that the Cardinals and Pirates are still battling for the central division crown has created a big break for the Giants. The two pitchers you need to avoid on those teams, Liriano and Wainwright were used on Saturday and today, and won't be able to pitch on Wednesday. Liriano is a lefty too, and you know what that does to the Giants, with all those left handed hitters. He also had only allowed just three earned runs in his last six games, before his poor start yesterday. I don't have to tell you about Wainwright! And if the Pirates win and the Cardinals lose, they'll have to have a one game playoff tomorrow, and that will provide an even bigger break. You could wind up with Madison Bumgarner facing a number three starter on Wednesday. Big advantage to the Giants.

Agree, Mark. All of Giant Nation is praying for a playoff game. Of course, with all of the bad luck we've had this year, not only won't there be a playoff, but Posey, Pence, Pablo, Panik, Crawford, Casilla, Romo, Affeldt, and Madison will all come down with Pneumonia and be in the hospital for Wednesday's game. boly

We have a huge advantage Wednesday with Madison Bumgarner pitching against Edson Volquez of all people. Now Volquez has pitched well lately, but he's still Volquez. And facing a righty is a big advantage too. We can play Ishikawa in LF instead of Juan Perez.
