1-First at bat of the game, Pagan swings... and walks tentatively away from the plate.
Not a brief walk, and turn around, but a walk... a much longer walk than I've ever seen him take, even when he's unhappy with a pitch or a swing.
Later in the game... long running catch in LCF. Normally, he catches the ball, stops fairly quickly, and wings it in.
Not this time. He continues jogging towards LF... gradually slowing down.
Therer were other moments, but those two were the most dramatic.
His back is NOT right, and it would be a mistake to count on him for tonight, or any of the remaining 9 games.
2-The comfortable comment would be to say that the team stopped hitting after that opening route of LA a week ago.
I didn't see any of the games in that series, but based upon the 3 in Arizona, and last nights... we're in a bad place again; hitting soooooo many balls right on the screws... right at people.
Hard to say how the games might have been different, but we're still hitting the ball hard.
But very few are dropping in.
After a month of almost everything falling, we're back on that old, stale train again; The "Find the leather Express."
3-Can Bochy REALLY roll Hudson out there again?
Does he REALLY have any other options?
I'm not sold on Lincecum's 2 innings last night. I'm not.
Still, 17 consecutive, poor to awful outtings in a row.
I love how Hudson goes about his business. HE'S a pro.
But for whatever the reason, and I DO think it's a nagging injury of the minor kind, he's getting lit up.
Reluctantly, if I'm Bochy... and I mean RELUCTANTLY... I have to go with Timmy against LA.
17 bad ones in a row is 17 too many in the stretch run.
4-Morse, Pablo, Blanco and Hunter swing THROUGH some extremely hittable fastballs last night. That simply can't happen.
My observation? Mentally, this team was NOT, and I mean NOT there; it was as if a bunch of them spent their off day on the golf course and their brains were anywhere but the game.
5-IF I'm right... and I think I am, IF I'M RIGHT... Someone needs to hit one hole, and it shouldn't be someone named Blanco.
If we don't have Pagan, and I'm Bochy, I see 2 choices, neither of which Bochy is likely to do;
1- move Hunter back to 1 hole
Thus my line up:
Pence
Panik
Posey
Pablo
Belt
Blanco
Morse
Crawford
Morse in LF and not 100% is risky. Too much ground to cover. Not my first choice.
2-My first choice
Panik
Crawford
Posey
Pablo
Pence
Blanco
Belt
Perez
Panic may not be fast, but he'll get on base. And right now, Crawford is locked in, and swinging the bat pretty well.
Anyway, those are my observations.
