When Brandon Belt returns to play first base and if Gregor Blanco plays left field, the Giants will have a very consistent defense in much the same manner that their batting order should be long.
With Belt, the infield defense should be among the best. With Blanco, the Giants' outfield defense should be above average.

I saw Bochy was revising his view of what Belt will contribute after watching him take batting practice. He must have looked pretty good! Joaquin Arias has played well lately, but he continues to be Joaquin Arias! Belt will really be an upgrade, although Ishikawa put one in the water last night. Something about Ishi returning and doing things like that makes me really happy.

Makes all of us happy, Mark. No question he's a re born player since he 'came home.'
Everyone talks about the Peavy move being under rated at the time, but outstanding as the season has played out.
Before last night's game I remember thinking; "Ishy has been a really SOLID acquistion, and one no one is talking about it."
He hit something like .371 off the bench before last night's game, and now .385.
Those are outstanding bench numbers!
He solidified the PH role, and is able to come in and play really good defense.
Big, big pick up for us, but at the time we signed him it look, ho-hum.

The Giants brought up Travis at the right time. Mark mentioned at the time that he had been hot. Prior to that hot streak, he had hit very poorly for the Pirates and less than outstanding for the Fresno Grizzlies.
