I'm not a fan of Blanco starting on a regular basis. His swing is too long, there's a loop at the top... but I have to say, each and every game over the last 10 games or so, I'm more surprised each and every day.
Right now.
RIGHT... NOW... he's a starting player. And by that I mean, one upon whom you can depend.
He's streaky, and I'm crossing my fingers that he stays hot for the next 3 or 4 weeks, because with Morse out... he's more than filled in and filled in well!
I tip my hat to you, Gregor!

Almost all players are streaky -- even some of the best of them. We have long talked about how streaky Buster Posey is, and he's been taking that to an extreme of late. I didn't like the way he was missing the high, inside pitch last night. He wasn't missing by much, but punishing the high, inside pitch has been the hallmark of his recent scorch streak.

His double against a tough lefty probably won the game last night. Take your time getting healthy, Michael Morse!

Morse got hot again before he became injured, so if they can get everyone healthy, suddenly the Giants have depth!
Intriguing that Blanco had been written off and prior to his bounce back after a long power drought, Morse was in the process of being written off as well. Now we throw in Panik and Susac, plus a revival from Joaquin Arias, and voila!

They all, stunningly, got hot at the same time.
I had honestly given up on the season.
They were so bad for sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long.
Nice to see.

Tonight's the night! Dodgers vs. Giants for the division. It will be interesting to see how Bochy handles the matchup against the lefty Ryu tonight. I will predict Posey at catcher with Duvall at first, since Posey usually catches Bumgarner, but I could see him really wanting Susac's bat in the lineup. By the way, Posey's three hits yesterday combined with an 0 for 5 by Harrison brings Posey within five points of the lead for the batting title.

If Bochy puts Duvall at 1B... I think I'll scream.
You might hear me all the way back there in NY!
Then again, out here, we won't be able to see the game.
Screwed, once again, but the Dodgers and Time Warner.
Swell.

I think Mark is right that how big Bumgarner's desire is for Buster to catch him will enter into the decision. I realize I'm considered a big "know it all" here, but I actually seem more willing than many here to let others do their jobs.
Do I always agree with Bochy's moves? HECK, no. But usually I do give him the benefit of the doubt.

That's a solid approach, Rog. I've disagreed with Bochy too. We can second guess all we want, but in the end, none of us here have two World championships under our belt.

There is little doubt that once in a while we come up with something better than Bruce though of. No one thinks of everything. But probably nearly as often, Bruce knows something we're not privy to, influencing his decision.
