Worse handler of pitchers I ever saw was Frank Robinson, followed closely by Felipe Alou and Dusty Baker.
Frank just never figured out it. He never did.
He never recognized when a pitcher was out of gas.
Then again, after watching Jim No-Clue Davenport, he had a good role model in that respect.
At least Davy never really had good teams.
Frank may not have had great teams, but they were better than what Davenport had to work with.
Alou and Baker never got the fact that just because you're not in the game DOESN'T mean you can't tire out an arm in the pen.
Game after game they had guys up, and down, up and down...
Today, Bochy morphed into Fruce RobinOchy.
How come HE'S the only one who didn't know/doesn't know, that Peavy is an 80 pitch guy?
How come?
How can that be?
He can't be that stupid.
He can't be that blind.
Guess I'm wrong.
I've watched Peavey 2 games before today, and even I had that figured out!
So what happens today? He's at the 80 pitch mark, and RobinOchy let's him roll on. Real smart, Fruce, real smart.
Just like Robinson.
You normally handle pitchers so well... but I guess you're 'memory' or how Jake USED to be, took control because what you did today was just stupid.
One ticked off

Bruce said after the game that he understood just what you are saying here. I didn't see the game, but Jake didn't get hit all that hard, did he?

I had a fear when the Giants acquired Peavy that Bochy would think he was the same young stud he had in San Diego and would leave him in too long. If Rog is correct, then hopefully Bochy just learned this lesson yesterday and won't make that mistake again.

Mark, Peavy pitched well! He was very much in control... until he approached the 80 pitch mark.
Then, what you said above, came true. Bochy FORGOT, or didn't care that Jake is now 37, and AIN'T that young stud anymore.
Honestly, I think Jake has pitched very, very well for us, and IF RobinOchy would pull his head out of his fanny, he'd use him like we used Kirk Rueter; 80 ish pitchs, (6 ish innings) and then go to the pen.
Personally, I'd like to see Peavy back with us next year, as well as Vogey. I think both have performed well for a 4 and 5 guy.

The reason Bochy forgot that Peavy was 37, Boly, is probably because he's only 33! He's got a lot of innings in that arm though, maybe he's equivalent to someone 37.

33? I thought he was a LOT OLDER than that, Mark.
Heck, if that's all he is...the way he's pitched for us these last 3 games, I'd like him back.

It's not surprising that the worst staff handlers you claim to have ever seen are former Giants managers. You have more of a personal interest in the team so you tend to be far more critical of Giants managers. Most likely you have seen worse from other teams but those memories arent as personal and far less stark as a result.

This statement from Dood I completely agree with. If you go on other team's blog sites, you will see all the same complaints about their managers. I didn't see Bochy get credit for outmaneuvering Terry Collins last week but I give him credit. Collins sent up left handed Bobby Abreu to pinch hit against right handed Tim Hudson with a runner on second. Bochy then went out and brought in Javier Lopez. Collins then countered with a right handed pinch hitter. Bochy then walked the pinch hitter intentionally, knowing that Collins wouldn't pinch hit for lefty Curtis Granderson on deck. Lopez then did what he always does, retire the lefty to get out of the inning. So basically what happened there was Bochy forced Collins to waste not one but two pinch hitters in a close game and still got the lefty-lefty matchup with Lopez that he wanted.

Fair enough, Randy. I don't get to watch other teams and I DON'T read blogs.
Remember, I said the worst I'VE SEEN, not the worst there ever was.
I've seen... that puts it in perspective
