Okay. We won.
Lord knows we needed about eleventeen flukey breaks for it to happen, but doggone it! It's about time things started to turn our way!
Sheesh!
They didn't give up.
They didn't roll over and play dead.
Color me... still concerned, but for the moment, impressed.
We'll see come Friday.

I have yet to see the Giants roll over and play dead.
By the way, how would you be feeling if the doinks hadn't fallen in and a few very close calls had led to strikeouts instead of walks? How would you have felt if the Giants' hits and walks had been more evenly spread throughout the game instead of coming in clumps?
Here's what WAS extremely good about the Giants. Their major league leading July bullpen put together another stellar effort. Remember how certain when Sergio Romo lost his job as closer we were that the Giants needed a closer? I don't expect Santiago Casilla to continue to be as stellar he has been this season, but he's been far too good for us to underrate him as we did.
I think the Giants could use another outfielder, another infielder, added depth and even another starting pitcher more than they need relief help. If I thought I could help the bullpen at a low cost, I'd jump all over it. But I think they have quite a few higher priorities.
Things can change so quickly that I think we get carried away by the recent direction of things. And, yeah, the Giants' direction has been backward for about a month and a half now. But they were EXCELLENT for nearly two and a half months before that.
I usually like to turn things around. If the Giants had gone 16-29 in their first 45 games and 42-21 in their past 63, we would think they were a really good team that had found itself after a very slow start. But since the order of those two streaks have been reversed, we somehow come up with the conclusion that they have rolled over and played dead. Either way the team would still be 58-50, on pace for 87 wins.

How would I have felt?
I'm beyond furious right now, so how about, suicidal?
I'm being faceateous, of course, but there are NO WORDS to describe where I would mentally be.
Rightly or wrongly, I live and die with these morons. And for the last 2 months THAT'S the word that applies; morons!
There is NO EXCUSE for what has happened.
None.
They're better than that.
You see the glass as half full.
I can't do that. I wish I could, but I can't.
I see the six shooter with 5 loaded bullets instead of 1 in a game of Russian Roulette.
Too many years of watching the Giants tank for no reason, and 2 World Series wins didn't, doesn't and won't change that.
Now if... and I mean IF... they some how get back to the World Series this year, THEN AND ONLY THEN will I begin to see things differently.
Until then...I'll be a pessimist.

When the Giants make a big mistake, we often think that good teams don't make that kind of mistake, implying that the Giants aren't a good team.
How about the Pirates' "walk" off double play the other night? I had never seen that one before. Horrible mental mistake which was compounded by the runner on third's taking off and winding up as the latter out in the twin killing. Yet I think the Pirates are still a good team. Good enough in this case to take two out of three Giants home games.
The Giants have made a TON of surprising mistakes this season, yet their record indicates they are still a good team. The stupid stuff certainly doesn't happen, and it surely makes a team look awful, but there are ofhter facets to the game which give a team a chance at redemption.

I agree that the Giants have made a lot of dumb plays. But enough about Gregor Blanco! It was good to win a game, but I'm thinking it's almost time to think wild card. You can't fall too far behind the Dodgers, because with Kershaw and Greinke at the top of the rotation they just don't have losing streaks. They're still within striking distance, but once you fall about five games out I'm thinking you can forget about it.

I may have forgotten what you said. I might not even be thinking. I think I might forget, but I've forgotten what I was thinking. Oh, it's going to be a long Friday!
