First of all, I don't believe they're the better team.
They're good, no question, but I don't think they're better.
What these 3 games have shown me are a couple of things;
1-We really miss Belt's presence in the line up. He can't be replaced over the long haul with the likes of Colvin or Blanco. 2-Right now they are hotter than we are. 3-We've been winning at an outrageous level and we had to come back to earth. 4-Though we lost the last 3 games... in the last 2, it could easily have gone the other way.So many of their hits found holes, ours, at clutch times, found leather. 5-Right now their bullpen is pitching way over their collective heads. All of those ERAs in the 1.00s? Spare me. They are good, but not THAT good. Their history tells a different story. They'll come back down to earth 6-We have a better manager calling the shots. I like Matty, but he's young and inexperienced. There are going to be multiple moments when he simply gets out managed.
This group of Giants just doesn't quit. They fight until the last out.
It's early June, and I see no signs of a June Swoon.
I don't.
Still a LOT of hard contact... that's just finding a glove.
That will change.

You very rarely can walk four men in an inning and win. What did we walk in the game, eight? That's Little League.

I'm not sure whether the Giants are better than the Nationals or not, but I'd like to balance off a few of the points above:
1. Belt is missed, but more than Harper?
2. I'd rather be hot than not.
3. If the Giants had to come back to earth, perhaps they weren't as good as they played early. Which would then make us wonder if they truly are better than the Nationals.
4. The Giants were probably unlucky in the Nationals series. But overall this season, I think we would all agree their good luck has outweighed the bad.
5. The Nationals' bullpen may be pitching over its heads, but is Machi truly the best reliever in the game? I think as good a point might be that Casilla is coming back and the Giants appear to have bullpen depth in the minors.

Here's a challenge for the stat mongers. When Machi faces a better in which a double play is in order, what percentage of the time does he get said double play? (This season only).
They got three of four, but they didn't dominate us One thing I will say. The ball/strike umpiring was unacceptably substandard the last three games. Especially Phil Cuzzi.
