The Giants just swept the Braves in Atlanta. First time since the late 80s. Who were the three starters the last time we swept Atlanta?
Who was the last Giants lefty to win 20 games?

I hope the Giants' last lefty to win 20 games wasn't Johnny Antonelli (21-7 in 1954). Maybe Mike McCormick in 1967 when he won the Cy Young Award. Probably someone since, but I can't think of one.

Strike one, strike two. Keep trying. Not even a guess on the starters?
Hunter Pence played in every regular season game last year. Prior to Pence, who was the last Giant to do this?

I would "guess" but I saw the Atlanta broadcast too, so I know the answers.

I'm sorry, but I really don't have a great idea on any of these questions. Hey, at least I took a shot at them. Shawn Estes came close (19 wins). Amazingly, Atlee Hamaker never won more than 12 games. The season he led the NL in ERA with 2.25, he went just 10-9. 3.53 runs of support might have had something to do with it. 14 unearned runs too. In Atlee's 9 losses in 1983, he gave up 2,0,3,4,3,1,4,4 and 6 runs. He received no-decision in games in which he gave up 1,2 and 2 runs. He did wind up with 19 decisions in 23 starts. Oh, the answer just came to me. Ron Bryant from Davis. He had a really fine season before somehow cutting up his stomach on a swimming pool slide during spring training in Palm Springs. I'm thinking he went something like 23-8 or 23-12. Actually, it was 24-12. His ERA was 3.53, but he received 4.61 runs of support. I have no idea about the three starters, so I'll guess John (the Count of) Montefusco, Pete (the Maltese) Falcone and John D'Aquisto. As for the last Giant to play all 162 games, I'll take a total wild shot and go with Barry Bonds. Or how about another wild one in Darren Lewis? JT Snow? Mike Krukow?

By the way, Allen, don't feel too bad about not getting much response to your Giants trivia questions. I think I came up with a dozen or more off the top of my head in one post and didn't get a bite.
So let me throw out another: I think most here know that Willie Mays hit the most extra inning home runs of any player in history, amazingly hitting home runs in every inning from 1 through 16. Another Giants player ranks 2nd in extra inning home runs. Who is that player?
Hint:
. The player hit a home run to win a game in Houston in the 10th inning the day my son was born, actually hitting it while my wife had her biggest contraction, which led to her going into the delivery room.
. My son was born the day both Hank Aaron and then-Giants manager Frank Robinson were inducted into the Hall of Fame.
. The player has been mentioned here on this board in the last few days.
Darn, I made it too easy, didn't I? At which clue did you get the answer, Allen? It's possible no one else here got it, but the clues made it pretty obvious -- even if they were somewhat personal to me.
Which clue gave it away for your others?

I'm not sure I do have the answer, but I'll go with Will Clark.
The starters were Kelly Downs, Atlee Hammaker, and Don Robinson. The last Giant to play in every game prior to Pence was Alvin Dark in 54.
As boagie pointed out, the questions came courtesy of the Atlanta broadcasters.

Allen -- I'm not sure I do have the answer, but I'll go with Will Clark. Rog -- You've got the last name right. Allen -- The starters were Kelly Downs, Atlee Hammaker, and Don Robinson. Rog -- If you had asked if that trio had ever PITCHED three games in a row, I would have had to guess. I don't believe Don even started all that many games as a Giant. Allen -- The last Giant to play in every game prior to Pence was Alvin Dark in 54. Rog -- I had no idea it had been that long. And in fact, it hasn't been. I suspect there are other exceptions, but Willie Mays played in all 154 games in 1961. (Up to that point, he had played in no fewer than 151 games in any of his full seasons.) Will Clark played in all 162 games in 1988. Perhaps Alvin was the last to start every game or at least play in the field in every game. Bottom line: Don't believe EVERYTHING the announcers tell you. As boagie pointed out, the questions came courtesy of the Atlanta broadcasters. Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/2256/trivia#ixzz316ZyfrxC

I didn't answer because I simply didn't know, and googling it would be cheating.

I was surprised to see that the Caveman started 92 games for the Giants. I was even more surprised to see that while he hit only .170 for the Giants, Don batted .265 in 10 years with the Pirates. I had forgotten that Robinson was THAT good a hitter. I had forgotten that ANY pitcher who didn't share a name with a candy bar was that good.
