He was skeptical about the Giants getting involved in the Tanaka sweepstakes and he was dead wrong. Last night the Giants acquired David Huff, the pitcher designated for assignment when the Yankees added Tanaka to their 40 man roster. Obviously this was Sabean's genius plan all along. Sit quietly on the sidelines, watch the Yankees sign the most desirable pitcher on the market, and then swoop in and get a lefty reliever who has slight problems getting lefties out. Brilliant!

If Huff turns out to be half as good as Surkamp, who we lost on a DFA move, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I have a world championship t-shirt that has the name "Huff" on the back, so hopefully I can add another this year!

Eric Surkamp is an intriguing case. Coming off arm surgery, his stats last season were quite good.
