Giants have signed Dontrelle Willis to a minor league deal, 10 years past he was a rookie phenom and 2 years since his last major league pitch. No risk but the reward would seem to be relatively low at best.

I think it's a good signing.
No risk, and who knows.
If it works, great. If not, nothing lost.

He's been given alot of chances, and hasn't really made good on any of them. Best of luck to him.

I was going to say that, DK. He's a .244 lifetime hitter with 9 homeruns. He actually pitched fairly well at AAA last year, (3.31 ERA) but his walk total is just way too high, at 57 in 108 innings. Maybe he can be used as a left handed relief specialist, being brought in to walk left handed hitters. Still, we can always hope for an amazing comeback story, and he's a local product. He was also signed by the Giants back in 2010 but was pretty bad in the minors.

The Giants have had good luck with signing guys to minor league contracts, but it looks to me as if Dontrelle is done. His 3.31 ERA consisted of 2.54 in the Independent League and 6.43 in AAA.
But that's not what bothers me. Even in the Independent League he struck out only 52 in 88 innings. I could live with his high walk totals, hoping he could bring them down, but not when he struck out only five more batters than he walked.
Clearly the Giants see something, but all I can think of is if he has recovered from an injury.
