whether there were sneaks with camera phones in those "moderate" mosques, I'll bet there were anti-nonmuslim hate being espoused in just about all of them.

The thing with these reality shows, Allen, is not they're not very real. I saw some pictures of these guys before they got a show, and they all look pretty ordinary. Then they get a show which portrays them as backwoods rednecks and all of a sudden they all have long beards and dress in camouflage outfits. I don't deny him his rights to say whatever he wants either, but it's certainly in the network's rights to decide they don't want someone with those views representing them. And especially when sponsors start pulling their ads, which is happening already. That affects their ability to make a profit.

Actually, I'd heard that the sponsors were sticking with them and coming to their defense. I'm thinking that sponsors that are sympathetic to gay rights won't look at this show as one they would want to sponsor. I've also heard there are at least two other cable stations all set to grab the show if A&E drops it. A&E has every right to cut off their nose to spite their face if they want to. But that doesn't appear to be the case either. They've been running the show since about noon (out here), and I'm sure the guy in question is in every episode. That's hypocrisy. Seems like A&E wants to take a moral stand, but they don't want to give up any money to do it. I was watching Fox News Sunday today and George Will was on there. he had an interesting comment, questioning when people started thinking they had the right to go through life without being offended or having their feelings hurt. In other words, people have different viewpoints and believe different things. Everyone's not going to agree with you, or keep quiet if they disagree with you. The you here is not you personally, but the collective whiny, liberal you that expects everyone to believe as they do, and has no tolerance for those that don't. How about they just get over it and go on with their lives, rather than try to punish people for not believing as they do.

For the record, I'm not a big reality show fan. They all seem kind of self-indulgent to me, and more than a little silly. I've watched a couple of the DD shows. I don't see anything there that would make me a fan.

Regardless of how a sponsor personally feels about gay rights is irrelevant because they want to sell product to everyone, and a gay boycott would cost them millions. Cracker Barrel was the company that actually pulled out, but I just read that they reversed their position because of the conservative backlash. Gays are certainly a minority in this country and they're greatly outnumbered by straight conservatives! By the way, the station is not really being hypocritical in their position by continuing to show the program because they haven't technically fired him. They have put him "on hiatus." I have a feeling he'll give one of those public apologies and all will be forgiven, and the show will have even higher ratings as people tune in to see what the fuss is all about.

Just read that he's made public statements for the first time since being suspended and he's not backing down from his earlier comments. I admire him for that, as well as his family for standing by him. I suspect that the show will eventually leave A&E and be picked up by a different network to great success...that is if the family really wants to continue.
In terms of a "Gay Boycott" supposedly costing millions, I remember the LGBT community tried to organize a boycott of Chik Fil-a and instead of costing them millions, they ended up increasing sales by a huge margin nationwide. Probably the only ones freaking out about this are in the liberal media. The NAACP got bunged up but they have no credibility left after supporting the militant thugs that intimidated white voters in '08.

Goosing the ratings may be the purpose of this entire exercise. It may just be all put on.
Whether they've technically fired him or not, it's hypocritical to feign outrage at his views, then continue to put him on your airwaves. They felt strongly enough about it to suspend him, but not strongly enough to not take the money he makes them.
The NAACP has evolved into nothing more than a racist organization. MLK must be spinning in his grave seeing what it's become.
People are getting tired of being told by liberals what they should think, how they should act, what they can say, and what they can believe. I think most can tolerate gays. What they can't tolerate is their intolerance.
Interesting that there's an LGBT community, a black community, a Latino community etc. Never a white community or a straight community.

Regardless of how a sponsor personally feels about gay rights is irrelevant because they want to sell product to everyone, and a gay boycott would cost them millions. Allen- That would depend on the product. I'm guessing here, but I'm thinking outdoorsy products are advertised on DD, Bass Pro Shops, that kind of thing. I don't know many gays, just a friend of my wife's and her partner, but I'm guessing that in most cases hunting and fishing ain't their thing. I'm thinking not alot of them hang out at Cracker Barrel either.

Oh I think they fish and hunt....for men!!! But they don't do it at the Cracker Barrel, they do it at the Y.M.C.A. That joke would be funnier if you picture the music and the Village People right now!
