Well so much of the talk has been about starting pitching and left field lately but I heard Bobby Evans on KNBR this morning. Most of his interview centered around the news of Morse but he also talked a bit about the bullpen. He stated the "big 4" in the bullpen would be Romo, Casilla, Lopez and Affeldt, with Petit slated as of now for the long man role. Machi, it was mentioned, is out of options so he has a decent chance of making the team and the last spot would likely go to Hembree, although Evans did also mention Dunning's name and we don't know what NRI might put together a nice spring and get himself in the running.

The Giants were actually thinking of signing an FA or two to strengthen the bullpen, but then they were absolutely shocked at the going rate of relievers this offseason. This is why they had no problem cutting loose Mijares and Rosario in the early offseason. They thought they'd have plenty of options. This pretty much means the bullpen will be the pitchers you mentioned, unless an FA or two falls through the cracks and comes to them cheaply.

I havent heard about what went down with Gaudin's court case but I think that whole thing may have turned the Giants off big time. I havent heard Chad's name come up in any discussions about next year's team even though he performed fairly well for us last season.

Brian Sabean has indicated he has a hard time seeing Chad with the Giants this season. Too bad. The guy was really good last season in a huge variety of roles.
What would you bet that in this mess he's gotten himself into, there was SOME ALCOHOL INVOLVED?

Yes. I would imagine it would be a big problem with the PCers in SF. It's ok for people to walk around naked and pee in the street, but what Gaudin did is beyond the pale.

There's no bet there, Rog, because it was in the police report that Gaudin was intoxicated.

I'm just shocked on that one. Back when Ralph Barbieri was still on with Tom Tolbert, Tom would read something wild that happened and ask, "Do you think there was alcohol involved?" Of course, 99% of the time there was.
Rubbing alcohol, naturally.
