I'm not sure it is necessary that the Giants acquire a solid-hitting left fielder before the season. It would be nice, but is it necessary? Let's take a look at the lineup as it stands.
Top of the order: When Pagan and Scutaro are healthy they have been among the best 1-2 combos in the league.
Middle of the order: I assume that if the season started today, it would be Posey, Sandoval, Pence and Belt, 3-6. Maybe not in that order but I know Bochy would prefer to split up the righties. I expect Posey to remain fresher with a better offseason workout regimin and likely with more rest from a (hopefully) healthy Hector Sanchez. With further progression from Belt, Pence being Pence and a return to form from the Panda, a very formidable heart of the lineup is not unforeseeable.
Bottom of the order: clearly the weakness of the lineup, although some here still believe that Crawford will soon give us some production to go with the glove. If we don't see some of that soon, it's time to think of dealing him for a hitter. The LF platoon I believe will be upgraded, if not before the season then during it...it's a fluid situation.
The bench could use some beefing up, but can the Giants win with the lineup they've got? I think so. We'll find out in the next month or so whether the Giants feel the same.

I agree to a certain extent, but I would still like the lineup to be stronger top to bottom, so I would like a good left fielder please. Especially considering that the Giants went cheap on the number five starter. They have the need, they have the funds, so get it done! By the way, they just lost out on Corey Hart, who went to join Robinson Cano in Seattle. They also just traded for Logan Morrison, so Seattle is truly making a move.
