I'm hoping Mark or Allen can tell us what the reaction is to the Yankees' surfeit of outfielders. This would seem to set up a trade opportunity for the Giants.
Does it?

I would think the only two available would be Wells and maybe Ichiro. Gardner sure isn't going anywhere, and they'll probably use Soriano as a right handed DH. I sure don't want Wells, and Ichiro isn't what we need.

Actually Allen, the word here is that they're actively trying to move Wells and Ichiro, but they ARE willing to trade Gardner if they feel the deal is right. Teams are calling and the Yankees are willing.

Now I've read that they might be willing to listen on Gardner. The price however, would be a starting pitcher. I'm not sure that Gardner is exactly what we need, though he would certainly be an improvement over Blanco. I realize that he approximates Aoki, but the price for Aoki was a middle reliever, not a starter.

Just reading another article from a NYC reporter wigs saying he's pretty sure he'll be traded. Yankees feel he's redundant with Ellsbury and he's a free agent after next year and they don't think he's good enough to receive a QO and net them a first round pick.

That makes sense. The more I think about Ellsbury, the more I think the Yankees took him to get him away from Boston as much as anything. Gardner's a dynamic player, but he's streaky.
