19-3, with 22 hits.
I loved it, heck, we all loved it!
Shellacking the Dodgers... and watching their fans squirm and whine and cry...
In baseball, other than winning the world series, I'm not sure it gets much better than that!
Finally, and I mean FRICKING-LORD ALMIGHTY FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! all the things that HAVEN'T been going right;
All of the balls that WOULDN'T drop;
All the breaks the OTHER TEAM got;
All of the balls that HAVEN'T been finding holes...all worked out last night.
Finally, it all worked out.
And I say it's about darned time!
This season has been hell on me personally.
And I mean HELL.
I don't lose well.
Not at all.
Not...at... all...
I expect to win.
I expect solid performances 80+% of the time. Not 100% of the time, no one can do that, but 80+% of the time.
For me, this season, this personal Hell On Earth, has been worse than ALL the years after Bonds left as we rebuilt.
Worse than all of them, because this group COULD have won back to back.
The talent was there.
And then one-by-one, we all watched in growing horror as the wheels fell off the cart.
Sub-sub-sub par performances by Cain, Vogey and others.
In explicable, uncharacteristic, and unforgiveable defensive mistakes.
Repeated mental lapses and breakdowns.
And more and more and more injuries to key players;
Vogey, Casilla, Pagan, Sandoval
Which brings me to the question; did last night make up for all the things that HAVEN'T gone right this year?
For all of the balls that wouldn't find holes or wouldn't drop?
For all the breaks we DIDN'T get.
No. Not really.
But it was a start.
And it sure felt good!
I'd like to think last night signals the END for the run of atrocious bad luck we've had this year, because I believe we've already put a halt to our atrocious play.
In the last 10+ games or so, we've begun, mostly, to play Giant's Baseball.
We went one span of 6 or 7 games without an error.
The starting pitching has been tons better.
The mental lapses of mostly disappeared. I say mostly because they never totally disappear.
We've begun scoring runs, and more importantly, getting the big hits again.
It's at least a good sign, and right now, we can't ask for more than that.
