I've repeatidly expressed my frustration with Bochy, but when a guy wins 2 world series titles... well, you have to think he knows what he's doing.
But THIS year... T H I S Y E A R, there are all TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many plays when he should be called Bruce BoTchy; as in botched plays.
Last night was another great example.
Lead runner on, down by a run... and he lets the right now, impotent Blanco hit... and he hits into a DP.
My logic: 1-Blanco is in a terrible slump. Terrible.
2-Archer is hot!
3-Down by a run, BUNT the runner over, and set things up for Scutaro, Fatso and Posey.
4-Blanco bunts WELL, and has the possibility to put pressure on the fielder MAYBE causing him to throw wildly.
Sound logic.
But not to BoTchy.
This isn't the first, nor the second, nor the twentith time I BELEIVE he's botched a moment.
I'm already on record complaining about his LACK of stealing with guys who CAN steal a base.
Example # 2 of Botchyed baseball.
Posey on first, and WHOM do we hit and run with? Rogy the K! A kid! Please! You'vve got to be kidding me!
Dude; put down the hash pipe and step away from the table, please!
That wasn't just foolish, it was moronic.
The good news:
Last 4 nights, in all areas but the aggressive base stealing area, we've finally begun to play Giant's baseball.
Finally.
But with the Best Team Money Can Buy, hotter the planet Mercury... I don't see that we have much of a chance.

How about his double standard? He wouldn't sit Pill down because he said he was hot, then he starts Belt who hits a single, triple and HR, which at that point of the game were the ONLY HITS off of Archer, and then he announces after the game that Belt isn't playing today! This is the same guy who's repeatedly said, "if you hit a HR you play the next day. " The Giants have two rings in spite of him, not because of him.

I can see Bochy's logic on this one. A speedster like Blanco is hard to double up and it took a near perfect feed from a rough angle by Loney to pull it off. And even then it was bang bang. I usually don't like to give away outs in an AL park that early in the game. Archer had been hot for sure but he's young and kind of a hot head. He made some young mistakes and the veteran Giants made him pay (particularly the Brandons).
I think Madden made a bigger mistake not having a lefty ready for Belt and/or Crawford there. I definitely would have yanked the kid after Belt's triple because he was mentally fried...Pill could have been inserted for Belt but Arias was already in the game so Crawford would have probably not been hit for if a lefty came in. You have to give Madison a ton of credit because with last night's strike zone, he could have easily gone on tilt too. A very impressive outing once again.
And the game's biggest clod award goes to 1st base umpire Joe West. That call he made on Roberts' sac bunt was just brutal. Not even close. He needs to get his cowboy ass out of the game.

Dood - wow, Dude, you're off the reservation here. Bochy has been sitting Belt against tough lefties after a big night for the last 2 years, putting Posey out there and essentially replacing Belt with guys like Whiteside, Quiroz and Hector (which wasnt bad until this year). But you didnt get all bunged up about it until Pill was getting the ABs and doing well. I mean Quiroz is a freakin automatic out and you're complaining about a hot Pill getting a start against a very tough lefty? Wow.

Dood, did you know that Brandon Belt has been better against lefties in his major league career than against righties? Did you know Brett Pill has been better against righties? This platoon is nonsensical. A smart manager would actually look at the players involved here, not some old generic baseball axiom. As for Quiroz, yeah he's terrible, but that's what happens when management doesn't recognize that it's best hitter is a catcher that needs days off, so you have to get a quality backup.,

Rog -- I like the idea of bunting with a fast batter/runner. As you said, it puts pressure on the defense. On the other hand, Bruce may have remembered less than fondly the last time he sent Gregor up to sacrifice -- and he bunted into a force out at third. Boly -- Posey on first, and WHOM do we hit and run with? Rogy the K! A kid! Please! You'vve got to be kidding me! Rog -- A couple of points, Boly. First you suggested the Giants do more hitting-and-running with Buster. I agree with you that Kieschnick wasn't the ideal base runner, although he is capable of stealing a base now and then. Second, Kieschnick is a new player as you mentioned. He might have missed the sign.
