Three years. $26 million. More than I would have paid. Evidently Az plans to divest itself of some outfielders.

Rog -- One of the posters here was really big on bringing back Cody. Cody probably got about twice what he should have.
Boagie- That was me. But not at that price. Arizona can have him.

Boagie- That was me. But not at that price. Arizona can have him. Rog -- I was surprised that Cody actually EXCEEDED his asking price of 3/$25. But because of the scarcity of qualified free agents, the price of acquisition has risen for teams. Know what a league-average pitcher who can eat innings is worth? Based on Edwin Jackson, he's worth 4/$52. I should add that Edwin has had better seasons of late, with his best season being 2009. And I should also mention that part of my plan of trading Tim Lincecum a year ago was to sign Jackson, who went on to earn 1/$10 for the Nationals. By the way, even though I thought the idea of Allen and me to trade Tim a year ago was well-founded, I understood why it wouldn't happen and why most hadn't even thought of it. As for Cody, I mentioned a year ago that I felt if Cody's price dropped to 1/$2, the Giants would have jumped on him. It dropped only to 1/$3, and the Red Sox were well-rewarded for signing him. But, as has been mentioned here by many people, Cody is being paid as a starter, when in reality he's a platoon player -- and the short side of the platoon, at that. To me, Andres Torres is a much better bargain at 1/$2 (or whatever it is) than Cody at 3/$26. Rog -- Justin Upton is said to be on the market.
Allen- As is Jason Kubel, who (according to some sources) is more likely to be traded than Upton.

---boly says---
Love Kubel's bat, especially with our short porch... but on defense? He was marginal in the Arizona outfield. He could be a disaster in ours.... but.... but... I'd take a chance on him because of his bat, and defensively sub for him late in the game.
But I also don't see an Arizona-SF trade ever occuring.
