It appears the Mets will non-tender former Giants center fielder Andres Torres. Any interest?
Andres made $2.7 million in 2012.

Love his energy, love his defense, love his speed... but no thanks. 2 consecutive bad seasons, or rather, seasons NOT equal to his 2010 season, are enough to tell me what I think most have figured out about Andres; his a back up outfielder with some pop.

Boagie- Depends on what they intend to do with the rest of the outfield. If they resign Pagan and expect an outfield of Blanco, Pagan and Pence I see no point in it. All 3 have speed and all 3 are good defensively. But if they opt to get someone like a Ryan Ludwick there will certainly be a need for someone like Torres as a defensive replacement.
The outfield situation is an interesting one. I think if they do make a surprise move it will be in the outfield. I mentioned Mike Stanton's name jokingly a week ago, but is it really that ridiculous?
What do you think would take to get Mike Stanton? Rog mentioned that he didn't think we had enough to get Stanton but I disagree. Perhaps a Brown, Panik, Stratton package would get it done. Crick and Hembree would also be attractive to alot of teams.
If not Stanton, maybe Logan Morrison is available for less?
I know trades usually don't happen within divisions, but if the deal is right maybe Justin Upton? What would the Diamondbacks need to have for Justin?
Normally I don't like blockbuster trades because you give up alot of unknown talent, but with Upton and Stanton I'd be willing to part with some talent. You throw either of those guys in our lineup and we instantly become one of the best lineups in baseball.
I know, none of this would likely happen, but the rumors are the Giants and Pagan are far apart, I'd be willing to bet the Giants are strongly considering trade ideas, perhaps not blockbuster trades, but I don't think the above trade ideas are completely out of the realm of possibility.

He switch hits, runs, fields and can play all three outfield positions. For those who value chemistry, apparently he has it. Crick and Hembree would also be attractive to alot of teams. Rog -- MAYBE if the Giants gave up all those guys, they could come close to getting the great Giancarlo, who may become the premier power hitter in the game. But let's look at whats it took to get Miguel Cabrera from them -- and at a time when some here thought Miguel was bad for the clubhouse. The Tigers gave up two of the top ten prospects in the game at that time as part of a 5-player package. Cameron Maybin has caught Willie Mays' eye and is now the Padres' center fielder, but has yet to excel. Andrew Miller had arm trouble, has never exceeded 107.1 innings in a season and has been converted into a reliever. The Tigers also took over the more-or-less dead contract of Dontrell Willis, who was making some nice change. The guys you mentioned are nice prospects, but perhaps only Stratton is rated in the top 100 prospects in baseball. Brown and Panik would be low on that list or on the fringes only. In other words, the Giants likely don't have enough to offer (although Hector Sanchez might add a little to the package), and if they packaged those guys, they would have to rely on expensive free agents for years to come. I agree with you it makes sense for the Giants to explore, but I suspect they would be biting off more than they can chew. If not Stanton, maybe Logan Morrison is available for less?
