In answer to the question, probably not. Perhaps almost certainly not.
But right now the Giants don't have a center fielder. Or a left fielder. Or a second baseman.
Bleacher Report came up with their Giants lineup as things stand right now. And Brown, not Gregor Blanco, was listed as the center fielder.
But what is germane to our discussion of Gary is that he is listed at 8th in the order -- behind Blanco, behind Brandon Crawford, and behind Joaquin Arias, who is listed as the second baseman.
Brown's ability to play center field isn't questioned. Bleacher Report places him there over Gregor Blanco (perhaps because Blanco has played the corners, while Brown has been strictly a center fielder).
But his ability to hit clearly is in question. Blanco, Arias nor Crawford is more than an average major league hitter. Yet each here is ranked above Brown.
