In a recent post, Rog pointed out how impressed he was by a relay that Crawford made.
I'd like to add last night's play to that list.
Great job by Blanco getting to the ball, and a fine throw to a ready Crawford.
but his throw to the plate; holy cow! Yeah, it short hopped Buster, but it had more zip on the ball than I'd have believed he could put on it!
Protected Buster, and gunned down a not slow Headly by 5...7 feet.

Boly -- In a recent post, Rog pointed out how impressed he was by a relay that Crawford made. Rog -- All three players made nice plays on that one -- particularly Crawford and Posey, with Buster perhaps making the best one of all. The relay play I previously cited went from Pagan to Crawford to whomever was catching IIRC. Pagan made a hurried throw from left-center that went more toward second base than it should have. Crawford adjusted VERY quickly, and with some quick running, got his body positioned nicely to allow him to throw on his forehand. Wonderful reaction, outstanding body positioning, and strong and accurate throw home by Brandon on that play. I'm not sure enough was said about Brandon's wonderful play on that one. A MUCH better play than even the relay the other night. The other night, when the ball GOT to Brandon, I felt the runner was a dead duck at the plate. On that one he might have been even better-served to take a tiny bit more time and be sure he didn't short-hop Buster. One nice aspect of the play the other night is that Brandon's arm is strong enough that he was able to go WAY out into left field to take the relay throw from the weaker-armed Blanco.
