how long are we going to continue this obsessive, childish Pablo bashing? Can we not just wish him the best and move on like adults?

Sorry, Randy, but I don't see it as "Pablo-bashing."
The Red Sox WANTED him badly, and let's be fair; (1) he wanted out of SF and (2) he has NOT honored his part of the bargain. By that I mean, they paid him HUGE dollars to come in and post good numbers.
Players are EXPECTED to come into camp in shape and are EXPECTED to perform.
Clearly his weight has been and continues to be THE problem holding him back.
The article just stated facts, and nothing more.

I think it will stop being a topic when you stop claiming the Giants were worse off by paying McGehee $4.8 mil for one year rather than signing Pablo to a $95 mil multi-year deal. It will stop when you stop ignoring direct quotes from Sandoval himself saying that a deciding factor for signing with the Red Sox was the strict workout regimen the Giants would have demanded from him. The topic will go away when you stop being defensive about Pablo when anyone compliments Matt Duffy on his better defense and smarter hitting. This isn't a dead topic because you refuse to let it die.

and this effects the current Giants roster exactly how? Listen we've been over and back on this subject and given this subject a full body cavity search even. But for some here it'll never be enough. Why? He plays in Boston, not SF.
Get over it already.

Dood - it might and it might not. Let's see how the next 4 years go. But for 2015, how much good did McGehee do us? We missed the playoffs and the money we paid him for 2 months, prorated over a full season, would have been pretty much equal to Pablo's annual salary.
It will stop when you stop ignoring direct quotes from Sandoval himself saying that a deciding factor for signing with the Red Sox was the strict workout regimen the Giants would have demanded from him.
Dood - who said I ignored them? I just pointed out that he also said his mind was made up after the Giants lowballed him in the spring of 2014. You can choose which direct quote you give more credence to based on your anger towards him.
The topic will go away when you stop being defensive about Pablo when anyone compliments Matt Duffy on his better defense and smarter hitting.
Dood - I LOVE Matt Duffy and have never said differently. I like everything about his game. I didn't realize we were choosing sides here. Matt's a good defender, but I think Pablo's hands and arm are a little bit better. At least at this stage in Matt's development. That's my opinion...do I really sound defensive about that? I don't think so.
This isn't a dead topic because you refuse to let it die.
Dood - really? When was the last time you remember me creating a thread here about Pablo? I've let this subject go...it's other's here that want to kick Pablo every chance they get. There are tons of Giants related subjects Rx could have chosen but he decided it would be more fun to bash Pablo. He has every right to...I just don't see the point to it.

I know you're on the west coast, but it was a "big" story on Twitter and the east coast and nobody else was starting any other topics, so I went with this "huge" controversy. You want to deal with something else, start a topic and I'll be happy to discuss it. Otherwise, FAT chance!

All good puns and cheap fat jokes aside...your argument here, Mark, sounds a lot like what we were arguing in favor of political posts. Are you welcome to continue this strange obsession of taking shots at Pablo's weight? Of course you are...but with so many great and encouraging things about THE GIANTS we could be discussing, it puzzles me that you would prefer this tabloid fodder.

Randy, I didn't take his posting the report that way.
So many Giant fans love Pablo, and we wish the best for him.
I saw it that Mark was keeping us updated, nothing more.

What are the great things to discuss at this stage of spring training, Randy? Everyone's healthy, everyone's in great shape? Everyone's predicting their best year? Until the games start on Wednesday there's really not that much to talk about. Pablo is a "large" exception because this isn't the fifties and sixties when players had off season jobs because they made so little money so they really used spring training to get in shape. Pablo has one job! Coming off a terrible season for both him and the team you would think he'd get in shape. The Red Sox told him to lose weight, then reported that he had lost 20 pounds and he shows up for spring training looking like Jackie Gleason and saying they never mentioned his weight. Sorry, but that's a story.

In Boston it's a story. In SF it's a cheap shot.
Personally I'd rather hear how Democrats feel that a person under FBI investigation and an avowed socialist are what they think of as "good for the country." Of course the last president didn't exactly set the bar very high.

I agree with you, Randy. But with Trump being the front runner for the Republicans right now there's very little room to talk.

Really? Why are they auditing his tax returns? Because he's a strong Christian? Why won't he release them? Hillary is under investigation, but doesn't a strong Republican believer in the Constitution believe that you're innocent until proven guilty?

We're off topic here, but I'll add a couple of things.
1-He's under going his usual audit. When a person is worth a couple of billion, audits happen a LOT.
2-No one learns ANYTHING from a tax return. His return will be a couple of hundred pages and unless you're a tax guy, or a CPA, or an accountant they wouldn't be undrerstood.
3-They DON'T show net worth; just taxable income.
and finally, she is innocent until proven guilty, but the evidence... seriously, it's over whelming.
and that will be my only off topic post on the subject.

One comment to bring Pablo back to a reference to the Giants. We're praising the Giants' front office now, but can you imagine how things might be different had they committed all that money to Pablo?
Duffy wouldn't have gotten his chance, so they would still be worried about third base.
The money wouldn't have been there for one of Cueto or Samardzija, probably the latter.
They might not have had the money for Span.
I guess it is likely they would have made some type of trade, which would have weakened the present and/or future roster.
I'm not picking on Randy here. The Giants themselves made Pablo their top priority a winter ago. For all the good decisions they have made since, that would have been disastrous as things have turned out.

Dood - Patreus served time for leaving a calendar lying around. Nixon got impeached for deleting 10 minutes of tape. Hillary has deleted THOUSANDS of emails that we know about. She kept a private unsecure server in her basement and we still don't know who may have hacked into our secrets. I can only laugh and shake my head when Dems defend her sleazy corrupt ass
