A little talk on the postgame show about Brown frm Greg Papa and Rich Aurilia. It wasn't good. Papa compared his stance to Aaron Rowand, and that certainly can't be good. Aurilia said his OBP was too low, he struck out too much, and he had been successful in just 17 of 28 steal attempts. Richie also said that the coaches had tried to change his stance and hitting approach, but Brown was resistant. They didn't hold out much hope of him being called up.

Like Kruk and Kuip, Aurilia plays favorites. He was singing Johnny Monell's praises even though he's somewhat of a career minor leaguer. A career 266 hitter in the bus leagues and this year just a shade better. Monell is two years older than Brown but Richie likes him, so Johnny gets the Rich Aurilia seal of approval.
Don't even get me started on Papa. He's an East Bay partisan who detests everything West of the Bay Bridge. He constantly disrespects the Giants on the radio. I don't know why they keep him on the pre and post game shows.
And someone please tell Kuip that the first syllable of Petit's first name is pronounced like YOU, not YO. These old farts get lazier every year.

I've heard that before about Brown, whether Dood wants to hear it or not. They've tried to get him to change and he won't listen. Meanwhile, Belt listened and look at the results. I was kind of surprised when they went four years on Pagan, knowing that Gary Brown was on his way. Now it looks like a smart move.

In all fairness, it took Belt awhile to listen. I think Pagan's better than Brown will ever be, at least going on what I've read.

Randy -- Don't even get me started on Papa. He's an East Bay partisan who detests everything West of the Bay Bridge. He constantly disrespects the Giants on the radio. I don't know why they keep him on the pre and post game shows. Rog -- Yet they do keep Papa around (and I believe the Giants do have an interest in CSNBA, although perhaps they don't have input and that is why a change isn't made). To the extent that the Giants have input into whether Papa is retained or not, it would appear they don't agree with you. Meanwhile, it drives me nuts that so many announcers get picked on around here. Hey, there are those I don't like either, and some I like more than others, but I don't know of anyone who is truly so unprofessional that he shouldn't have a job. It's as if we believe we could do a better job -- and it is almost certain that we couldn't. Rog, isn't this a forum to share opinions? You don't have to be able to do a better job to have an opinion on how a public figure is doing theirs. Me? I like Papa, and I haven't noticed what Randy is alluding to here. But he's certainly entitled to his opinion. I'm sure if the Giants didn't like Greg, he wouldn't be on their broadcasts.

What I've noticed is this...if it concerns the A's, the Raiders or the Warriors, Papa will defend and apologize to the death everything about them...but about the Giants and the Niners, he will always deride them if he gets a chance...this is especially true on his radio show.

I didn't even know he had a radio show. He is the Raiders play by play guy, so I imagine there's some loyalty there. Where is his radio show? Is it on the Raiders station? That could have something to do with it to. I don't think I've ever heard him say word one about the A's, or the Niners.

He has a show on 95.7 The Game, which is the A's flagship station and unofficially they cover the Raiders, even though KFOX does the games. I'm sure the station doesn't mind Papa taking cheap shots at the Giants and Niners but I'm surprised CSN gives him such a huge pass, especially since he isnt really very good at what he does. A monkey could host the Pre and Post game shows just as well.

Randy -- I'm surprised CSN gives him such a huge pass, especially since he isnt really very good at what he does. Rog -- Again, Randy, common sense test. According to you Greg Papa takes shots at the Giants, and he isn't very good anyway. That sounds like two reasons for CSNBA not to have him do the Giants' pre- and post-game shows. Yet they do. If you are right about both, why in the world would they do that? What you're essentially saying is that Papa is no good, he's anti-Giant, and CSNBA is stupid. It's not impossible that you are right, but common sense tells us it is unlikely. But I think his opinions should be backed up, and I think they should withstand the common sense test.
