Just to get a little discussion going, here are my off-the-top choices for top Giants prospects by position:
Starting pitcher -- Kyle Crick
Relief pitcher -- Heath Hembree
Catcher -- Andrew Susack
1B -- Ricky Oropesa
2B -- Joe Panik
SS -- Carter Jurica
3B -- Adam Duvall
LF -- Francisco Peguero
CF -- Juan Perez
RF -- Roger Kieschnick
By the way, Don, notice how I didn't forget Carter Jurica? It came down to him or the guy you mentioned a couple of days ago. Ehire Adrianza seems to have plateaued.

Gary Brown has really fallen from grace, hasn't he? I hope last night's 4 for 5 with a HR means he's back on track. And I hope our first round pick Christian Arroyo soon becomes our number one hope at SS, although the Giants are getting killed for picking this guy! Have we given up on Angel Villalona? Still only 22, but after a miserable start probably attributed to missing two years, he's gotten his average up to the .240's and is tied for the league lead in homeruns with 14. There's still some hope!

Rog -- I heard the Fresno manager this morning, and he said one of the hitting coaches had been working with Brown, who had his best game of the year with the four hits you mentioned including his 4th home run. The manager said that the reports that Juan Perez was as good or better defensively as Brown were "pretty much accurate." He said that Perez was switched to the outfield early in his career due to hurting his knee. He tried Perez at third and short this season and found him good at third but not ready yet for shortstop. He said that Perez would make a good utilityman. He said that Tony Abreu's best position was second base, but that he could also play third and short. I realize the pundits thought that Arroyo wouldn't be drafted until later, but I can't help but remember how Alden Smith was considered to be an "overdraft." Arroyo is considered a middle infielder but can also catch. Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1824&page=1#11605#ixzz2VvthxNsV
