Yeah, we lost, but we took the series.
More importantly, I believe, is that we've now gotten 3 consecutive starts that were very good to outstanding; back to what Giant fans have been accustomed to, and our pitching staff expects to do.

Three well played games. Even though they seemed to struggle for runs in the last 2 games, they sure seem focused at the plate. Many people said that we won't get the same Scutaro we saw down the stretch and into the post-season, and I agreed. Boy were we wrong, he's right there again. Seems like every at-bat finds it's way to a 3-2 count, even yesterday he battled with 2 outs in the 9th and just missed tying the game.

Boagie- The starters have been a lot better, but at the same time I've also grown accustomed to our bullpen not losing it in extras. Affeldt needs to send us to the bottom of the 10th still tied up.

In the last two games, we faced two of the best pitchers in baseball, Strasberg and Gio Gonzalez. Gio, in particular, seemed to be on his game.
Scutaro has indeed been impressive with the bat lately, though quite a bit less so with the glove.
I can't blame Affeldt yesterday. He got the ground ball he wanted, it was just in the wrong place. You're not going to win many games in which you score just one run. We need to get after Colorado this weekend, don't let tham start thinking they have a chance.

The Giants bullpen also had 20 holds.
So they're 11-7 while the rotation is 15-14, and they've blown 4 saves out of 38 overall opportunities to do so. Their ERA is 2.77 compared to the rotation's 4.64.
I'm not sure there is any other team whose bullpen has been that much better than its rotation.
Perhaps next week the rotation will get a Kickham in the pants.
