I love Marco Scutaro, and the way he plays, I really, really do.
He grinds every at bat, and though he doesn't have the best range in the field, he ALWAYS gives you 100%
But for the past couple of weeks, we've watched up pop up pitches he should drive; take called 3rd strikes, and swing and miss more than I've ever seen him do before.
Less year was an abberition. I don't expect a repeat.
But to me, I think he needs a few days off to simply re group.
And after last night's boot of a rountine groundball, even more so.
It's a long season, and I know he'll be fine.
I expect him to be steady, and hit around .270 like he always does, and to continue to play hard... like he always does.
But right now, he needs a break.
I hope today is that day.

I have to agree that Marco did seem to need a day. In fact, both he and Buster were scheduled for one -- but they went to Bruce Bochy and asked to play. Marco didn't do anything Sunday, but he went 3 for 4 last night.
Again, how do we figure out how a guy is going to perform at a given time? When do we rest him? When do we change his spot in the order?
I think the rest question is at least easier to figure out than the order question. But neither is a slam dunk.
