Last postseason it was noted here that the Giants were rated behind both the Washington Nationals and the Cincinnati Reds. The cry of "East Coast Bias!" rang around the internet and back, creating echos, echos, echos...
Well, guess what? The Nationals and Reds both finished ahead of the Giants in the regular season. The Giants, of course, had the last laugh.
This season Bleacher Report ranks the Giants #1, the Nationals #3 and the Reds #5. Regarding the NL West, they have the Dodgers at #14 and the Diamondbacks at #14.
I would probably rank the Nationals #1 this year, which unless the Bay Area has moved, isn't East Coast Bias. But clearly, while some here are nervous, the Giants appear to be pretty darn good.
The only real questions on their roster involve its last three spots. The rotation is set. The bullpen is set (with one last spot up for grabs). The lineup, including a platoon in left field, is set.
It is unlikely the East Coast Bias will change any of that. As if it could.[vc
