Pretty good outing from Madison tonight, despite the loss. He wasn't great, but he did a nice job of pitching out of trouble. Some might question why he was removed after allowing a base runner to open the seventh, but Madison simply isn't the pitcher he once was. There may have been other reasons as well.
Apparently Steven Duggar needs to work on those top-spin line drives curving away from him as well. He simply misjudged the ball and then got caught in between. He's still a good center fielder though, but not at his best here of late.
The announcers liked it when Brandon Belt tried to bunt ahead of his home run. I agree with them as deeply as they went; with no outs is indeed the time to bunt. But on a 2-0 count isn't. That's what they call a hitters' count, not a bunters' count. Then again, maybe Brandon knew something. He entered the game tonight hitting just .158 after reaching a 2-0 count. On the 2-0 count itself, he was 0 for 6. But as it turned out, it was great (for a while) that the bunt went foul.
Getting back to Bumgarner, if we were the Yankees, what would we be willing to give up for him? The Yankees have a TON off young talent; whereas a team like the Giants becomes exposed by injuries, the Yankees have so much depth that they don't really know what to do with some of the players when everyone gets healthy.
So what would you give up if you were the Yankees? Would that be enough for you to pull the trigger if you were Farhan?
