Rog--Maybe I'm underestimating the difficulty of the play, but when the ball was hit, I had little doubt the runner wouldn't be thrown out at the plate. I've seen that play made many times before. And not botched very many.

For pros, Rog, you're right; It SHOULD...key word, SHOULD be routine.
I see the difficulty in 3 phases:
1-It was hit on the grass, and thus suseptable to "skipping."
2-Duffy's a kid who likely has made the play dozens of times. But this was his FIRST time in the show.
3-Had to be an accurate throw. Had to be. Too many kids rush the play. What I like about what Duffy did was that he did not rush it. He set his feet as a good SS has been taught, and then let it fly. He didn't try to (#3) guide it.
