Based on what coaches have whispered about Brown, he was a kid who really resisted all teaching, preferring to do it his way. Not sure if he wasted his talent or he was just simply overrated.

If Gary is indeed resisting instruction, I wonder if the Giants are essentially punishing him by allowing other players shots instead of him. You can't make a guy change, but you can show him he isn't going to be rewarded with an opportunity until he does.
I wonder if Gary is out of options next spring. I think he is. He might wind up never playing an inning for the Giants, although I would think they might at least bring him up as a pinch runner in September.

You mentioned that he leads the PCL in caught stealing, so I'm not sure he's a good pinch running candidate. Might as well bring Darren Ford up if that's all you want. He's also out hitting Brown by about 40 points.

He's also out hitting Brown by about 40 points. Rog -- Except that he's not a very efficient base stealer, I don't really know about Gary's base running. But with his speed, I have an idea it's pretty good. I'd RATHER have Darren Ford up than Brown, but the Giants would need to take someone else off the 40 man roster to recall Darren.
