dk...your problem is that you are so wrapped up in stats, you never look at how the poor handling of a kid might effect his production....
Rog -- I realize it could happen, but I also realize how important it is for a major league player to be able to overcome adversity. The Giants' players you state have been mishandled have gone on to rather poor production post-Giants.
You can say that is because the Giants mishandled them, but that is begging the quesiton.
Don -- Rohlinger had the mistake of being handled incorrectly by a dotting father...he insisted on signing a major league contract shorting the "window" he had to make it into the bigs...
Rog -- I believe you are confusing Ryan with Conor Gillaspie. Conor did have his window with the Giants shortened and then went on to play regularly for the White Sox. But after a hot April, Gillaspie has fallen back to a .242 average.
Don -- and then the Giants compounded it by changing his positions and calling up too soon...
Rog -- Again, let's go back to Rohlinger and Sandoval. Both switched positions in the minor leagues, both were called up at the same time. In fact, the disadvantages were mostly Sandoval's.
Pablo was nearly three years younger than Ryan. He was asked to play a position he hadn't played for two years. He was playing in a country that didn't speak his native language, whereas Ryan had the seasoning of going to college.
Yet Pablo took advantage of getting the second chance behind Rohlinger. Pablo performed so well and Ryan so poolry that it was clear which player should be starting at third base.
Don -- I don't appreciate you lecturing me on my language.R
Rog -- I understand your point. Perhaps the easiest way to resolve this is for you to stop using foul language.
dk..we had this conversation about Rohlinger before...while Pablo was playing baseball all year round...Rohlinger was state all-
star in 4 sports...football, basketball, baseball and tennis...he went to college while Pablo was developing.....and BS is common language ...but we know you are not common...
